Monday is the deadline for amendments to the Bill Committee. The Bill will presumably go to Report stage with some sort of parliamentary debate w/c February 8th with Third Reading in Commons and First Reading in Lords by February 10th before parliamentary hols on the 10th. Second Reading in the Lords straight after the hols w/c Feb 22nd I guess. Lords can submit amendments in the holidays, the office is open. I think if we want to understand Lords amendments strategy we should look at what Lord Lucas has been doing with the Digital Economy Bill.

It is. I don't see how they can possibly do it, which is probably the intention anyway.

I don't think it really matters anyway - the carefully selected (i.e. unlikely to disagree with the ministers) Labour members of the committee outnumber those from the other parties, because they do in the Commons. However much time they had, I wouldn't expect any worthwhile amendments to happen before the bill gets to the Lords.

The best hope still seems to me to be running out of time in the Lords, before the election is called. Fortunately it can't be rushed through that house the way it can in the Commons.
