I can’t believe she actually said “Produce the child!”

Several times.

Under no circumstances will I be “producing” my children to be inspected by the likes of her.

She says that home educators having contempt for the state doesn’t paint them in a good light. I say it’s the other way around - the state clearly has contempt for the people, and that paints it in a very bad light indeed. Who is supposed working for whom here?

Given Baroness Deech’s family’s history of escape from Nazi-occupied Europe and the murder of her family members in the concentration camps, I was open-mouthed to see her a) lauding Germany’s ban on home education and b) calling on the government to opt for even tighter registration and monitoring of home educating families than is currently being proposed. I’m not sure she would be so keen if it were a different minority group which was to be the subject of such government control and scrutiny, based solely on spurious allegations.

She’s not gone far enough! We should be visibly identifiable by some external sign on our clothing. How will ordinary people know exactly who they may be mixing with?
