Labour are STILL gunning for home educators

Oh yes, on the heels of OFSTED’s poisonous but oh so predictable report we have the following question from Diana Johnson (remember her?):

To ask the Secretary of State for Education what steps he plans to take in response to Ofsted’s recommendations in its recent report on local authorities and home education. source

The response from Nick Gibb wasn’t as robust a dismissal as I would have hoped for:

We have noted Ofsted’s findings and recommendations. We will consider whether changes need to be made to the existing arrangements, given the strong views expressed by both home educators and local authorities.

Maybe such a vague, non-commital answer means “yeah, right, whatever” and nothing more will happen but what this does demonstrate is that Labour, in the poorly-dressed form of Ms Johnson, is not going to forget about us. We stood up to them and won and I’m afraid that such an insult is unforgivable. We will have to be punished!

So much for a quiet life.

  1. I told you it is coming from Europe and senior civil servants who want to bring us in line with Europe over home education! Civil servants meet with other civil servants from Europe to share ideas!

Nick Gibb will have had meeting with senior civil servants who would be telling him something needs to be done with home educators! the Liberal party wants some form of control over home education but is unsure what so it will take advice from civil servants! but as you have pointed out money is a problem so my guess is its a holding statement which happens a lot in the commons!

Johnson is just asking a clever question in the house that is her job she is also showing her supportes im still here! change will come to the Labour party as it need to win the next election! if they learn to far towards the left they lose anther election! so dont worry about Labour i think you got more to worry from the tory Liberal party who really have no real ideas what home education is! most of the M.P’s send they children to private school and expect the rest of us to go to state school!

  2. Don’t worry about Labour? Are you serious?! You think loosing the election has magically transformed them or something? The only way in which Labour can be seen as not a concern is that they are CURRENTLY not in power.

As for where MPs send their children to school, I think you’ll find that most Labour MPs also use private schools or take advantage of their ability to move to the right catchment area/use their influence to get them into ‘good’ state schools. The old class war politics are dead. Just look at private school educated Ed Balls, as big a Champaign Socialist as you could ever hope to find!

If you’re a Labour Party member by all means work to change their attitude to home education, and civil liberties in general, but please don’t expect anyone else to believe that they’re not the bigger threat until you’ve achieved that.

  3. losing an election does help to make a party re-think its ideas and how to get more votes! the conservitive party had to go though this when it lost 3 elections in a row! dont you remember how painfull that was for tory supporters? so much so that is belived this cost cameron out right victory becuase he was scared to say to much that may upset the voter!

not being in power will make labour supporters very unhappy and chamge will be forced on Labour you can see how glum Balls looks when interviewd on the BCC! it hurts him not being in power! Johnson could well be replaced when Labour pick new leader so could Balls!

of course Labour send its children to private school i expect nothing else from them!

Will Gove ignore the advice from his senior civil servants over home education? you not said? what is his real view over home education and the OFSTED report? he is very quiet over it!

I dont vote as in my view they all the same and only do the job for what they can get out of it! look at those claims most of them made last year duck pond 2nd homes! they dont care about us none of them do.
